tl,dr: `systemctl suspend`

Sometimes I let my pc play music at night. Spotify still didn’t manage to implement a sleep function (even gorram Audible has this – and chances are the app crashes way before anyway).

I usually use `shutdown -h 60` or similar. Suspend tho? That’s another story. Hint: “suspend” is a bash builtin and not what you’d expect 😉

Looks like this changed (again) from `pm-suspend` to… systemd:

> sleep 1h; systemctl suspend

No sudo. yw.

Did you know `ncdu`? I’m using this for years to find out where all my precious disk space is lost. Unlike other solutions it works in a terminal and this way even on remote servers… or gorram mobile phones always short on anything.

Today I found out that I can use my Sony Action cam as… webcam (under Linux) for e.g. streaming or view control 🙂 Not really officially supported. Manual says: Use our shiny Android App and ustream (costs). The trick is so set it into ‘multi camera mode’ to trick it into joining my regular wlan via WPS. Once it’s on my wlan I can easily discover it’s API Scheme and make use of the Sony Camera Remote API controlling it via… JSON 😀 Now it’s just a matter of pointing OBS Studio to it’s lifestream. E voila 😀 I can now even write my own App instead of using that gorram Android App 😀

Played with the API. Taking photos (and download), change various settings, camera mode or start/stop recording worked flawless. Some other stuff I tried, like accessing the storage, not so. Probably doing something wrong.

Disclaimer: That device accepts commands (or stream access) from anyone – there’s no access control. Sony o0

Update: To register as regular v4l2 device that can be accessed e.g. by a webbrowser one can make use of a v4l2-loopback device.

Gestern wurde es mal wieder sehr spät und wie so oft kam das Thema auf Computerspiele. Aus irgend einem Grund kamen wir auf Dungeon Keeper. Ich rede vom ersten Teil. Das war ein 16Bit DOS Spiel aus dem Jahre 1997 von Bullfrog. Falls sich noch jemand erinnert.

Ich habe also in meiner Spieleschatzkiste gegraben und tatsächlich die originale ziemlich lädierte und zerkratze CD zu Tage gefördert. Und das schöne: Lief mit “dosemu” auf Anhieb und ohne Murren mit Ton, Sprachausgabe, Maus und “3D”. Oder was man damals halt so unter 3D kannte.

Zum Spiel selbst: Herrlich, witzig, böse, innovativ. Allein das Introvideo war preisverdächtig. Unglaublich, was hier aus einem DOS rausgekitzelt wurde. Und das Beste: Dank grafischer Ausgabe über SDL seitens Dosemu ist eine stufenlose Fensterskalierung möglich. So kann ich es auf meinem reinen 64bit Linux auf einem modernen Monitor, der diese niedrigen Auflösungen nicht mehr kann, noch einmal mit mir genehmer Größe und Verpixelung spielen.

Da habe ich ziemlich blöd geschaut als mir der Kollege heute einen Maxibrief ohne Absender in die Hand drückte. Darin befand sich ein typischer Adventskalender von ixsoft bedruckt mit vielen Pinguinen[1] (einige sehen ziemlich bekifft aus 😀 ). Da hat sich jemand richtig viel Mühe gegeben. Das Etikett kommt wohl von einem A4-Etikettenbogen und nicht von der Presse und die Verpackung ist solide. Da ich bei der Post arbeite kann ich euch sagen wie ungewöhnlich eine derartige Sendung als sog. “vollgezahlte Sendung” ist. Üblicherweise geht sowas als Werbesendung “Infopost” oder ähnliches raus und ist höchstens in ne Plastikfolie verpackt und kommt völlig zerknautscht beim Empfänger an.

Jetzt fehlen nur noch meine beiden wohl vergriffenen Spiele, die ich bereits im August bestellt habe xD

Bei mir steht seit gestern ein Lenovo 3000 N200 auf dem Tisch. Nettes stabiles Arbeitstier 🙂 Die Vista Installation hat mich allerdings bereits verlassen. Ich saß sage und schreibe 5 Minuten bis zum ersten Schreikrampf dran. Nach 2 Stunden hatte ich ihm endlich die Recovery DVDs abgeluchst und dann komplett platt gemacht. Ich musste sogar zu fdisk greifen, da die mit den Partitionstabellen Müll gemacht haben, um ihr Recovery Set vor den Augen von Windows zu verstecken o0
