Update to the Syndication Links plugin for WordPress for Custom Endpoints (BoffoSocko)
David Shanske has recently updated the Syndication Links plugin for WordPress that now allows users to add custom syndication endpoints to their websites so they can actually syndicate their content

Nice example how custom POSSE providers of the Syndication Links plugin are supposed to work: https://boffosocko.com/2019/02/16/update-to-the-syndication-links-plugin-for-wordpress-for-custom-endpoints/

Some WebSub-Atom observations by fluffyfluffy (beesbuzz.biz)
As part of testing my WebSub changes for FoF, I decided to switch to a WebSub hub for myself that provides some subscriber analytics and so on. One neat thing about how WebSub works is that the "hub" layer is completely modular and it really doesn't matter at all which one you use, and if the one you use has problems you can switch to another one just by changing the URL in your feed and all subscribers will eventually seamlessly migrate (at their next normal polling interval); if anyone even notices a problem it will just be that they don't receive a push update during that polling interval. (Which, let's be honest, is *incredibly* unlikely for most RSS feeds.)

I’m finally getting the idea of (or PubSubHubbub).

This helped a lot: https://beesbuzz.biz/blog/8139-Some-WebSub-Atom-observations

Shame that there are not many readers (specially foss) out there so I wonder if I should bother with this at all. Didn’t like any of this short list (dogfooding and all) 😕

Michael Beckwith on Twitter (Twitter)
“Hey #indieweb Let me introduce you to "Joe WebUser". He's just heard this term for the first time ever. How should collective "we" inform Joe about the IndieWeb? For example, why he should care in the first place? How to participate? Lets talk.”

Well I’d suggest a nifty video. IndieWeb in 5 minutes. Don’t talk about the details or the implementation (that’s tech babble). Show em what’s in for Joe. Solid reasons like displaying a feed the way you like it and not how $silo AI decided.

The Indieweb privacy challenge (Webmentions, silo backfeeds, and the GDPR) // Sebastian Greger (sebastiangreger.net)
Originally intended to showcase a privacy-centred implementation of emerging social web technologies - with the aim to present a solution not initially motivated by legal requirements, but as an example of privacy-aware interaction design - my “social backfeed” design process unveiled…

Interesting thoughts on Silo Backfeeds and GDPR.

An IndieWeb reader: My new home on the internet by Aaron PareckiAaron Parecki (aaronparecki.com)
This article was originally posted on the GoDaddy blog. https://aaronparecki.com/2018/04/20/46/indieweb-reader.jpg I have a new home on the internet. I don’t visit the Twitter home timeline or the Facebook news feed anymore. I don’t open the Instagram app except when I post a photo. I still have...

I feel like a child in a candystore 😀

Still working on understanding the kinks of microformats2 and webmentions but I’m starting to get the hang of this.

Most of this is supported by the amazing IndieWeb plugin collection for WordPress so much respect for people that roll their own.

I was late for this party anyway but getting off isn’t that easy.

Cleverdevil has some good pointers on freeing yourself from Facebook but the suggested tool fb-export requires an AccessToken for the Graph API Explorer. For this one has to set up a developer account with Facebook.

That’s not freeing [for me]. That’s entangling even more because this step requires a phonenumber or credit card with Facebook. A step I managed to advert so far.

So yeah, I guess my quest goes on. This may work for others tho.
