Me in 2021: I’ll never understand live streamers. Also Me in 2003: Uploading camera snapshots every 2s to people I was playing Ultima Online with, while downloading theirs in return and chatting via IRC. Not much changed, eh? 🤷

The year was 2005 and I was playing Codename: Gordon, a 2D sidescroller set in the Half-Life lore, using Macromedia Flash Player run via Wine on Linux. Apparently this game can still be installed by any Steam user with the command steam steam://install/92 because it was part of the freebie package “0”. …and no single Proton was in sight 😛 Ymmv.

I’m making heavy use of Hetzner storageboxes, a rather slow network storage solution perfectly suited for backup tasks. Sadly they come with hickups resulting sometimes in a failed automount status where the machine may not recover from on it’s own. That’s so common that I got tired of checking monitoring or logging in to each individual machine. #Systemd and #bash to my aid!
