How can I get consistent sizes with physically different monitors on Linux? by @edent (shkspr.mobi)
I can’t think of a concise way of wording this. I have three monitors. Each has the same resolution – 1920x1080px. But each one has a different physical size – 61 cm monitor, 39 cm laptop, and 48 cm monitor. Three monitors. Here’s my problem. When I move a window from one screen to another, ...

Sounds like you want to go back to tweaking an Xorg config file 🙂 A Monitor section has an option for a DisplaySize (in mm) that may be used (overriden by dpi from DDC file so may have to be disabled) but since the dimensions seem to be detected fine already I’d fiddle with xrand and if you’re happy with the results put that in ~/.xprofile or whatever. Here you can set anything without restrictions from the GUI. Example:

xrandr --output DisplayPort-0 --scale 0.8x0.8

Sadly this doesn’t seem to work with Wayland (I tried it even with XWayland for you). There was a project to rewrite xrandr but looks like it never flew. Latest solution to this seems to be wlr-randr that has according to source a --scale parameter but this requires wlr-output-management-unstable-v1 and while this may be in wlroots by now it’s not shipped (for me!) yet. Your mileage may vary.

There’s a weird issue with (snap) on that starts when using voice chat causing really bad lag and short freezes (input, rendering, everything) that became worse over time. My journal filled up with looping messages from appindicator causing this.

appindicatorsupport(at)rgcjonas.gmail.com[2514]: discord1, Impossible to lookup icon for 'discord1_12-panel'

Followed by a JS exception and trace:

JS ERROR: Exception in callback for signal: icon: Error: Argument 'filename' (type filename) may not be null

When I finally found the cause of this I went on looking for a solution and it seems like the unsung hero @3v1n0 fixed this long standing bug like 8 days ago: https://github.com/ubuntu/gnome-shell-extension-appindicator/commit/745c66a73e0a15a870e92e5aa461e2e9e646b899

Here is a more coherent report on this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell-extension-appindicator/+bug/1849142

Fun thing is: I only have that indicator because Discord would eventually crash without trying to access this.

Now it’s patched and gone – back to 😁

Challenging turn-based RPG 'Stoneshard' has a huge overhaul update out, price rising by Liam DaweLiam Dawe (gamingonlinux.com)
Ink Stains Games have released a major upgrade to the challenging turn-based RPG Stoneshard, one they've been working on for some time now and it's quite the overhaul. Sounds like it's almost a different game too, all the big main parts of the game have been changed in some way. Here's the highlight...

Absolute lovely. Looks like someone made the homework on mediaeval buildings and stuff and mixed everything in a nice looking fantasy RPG. Getting Death or Glory: Das Erbe von Morgan vibes from this. Stoneshard goes totally on my wishlist.

And the final render (again by Ron Lussier) of the TIE Fighter cover art, without logo. I think I did more Photoshop tweaking to it for the final box art, but Ron made my sketch come to life.

@jonk1969 Thank you for your awesome work. This game (and others in that line) are a huge part of my childhood memories and there is something satisfying to have this still sitting on my shelf that modern virtual only copies will never provide.

I’m doing a little experiment and want to show how fast a post can spread. Please share and subscribe!

Kidding. Don’t fall for this crap. Your timeline is yours. Keep it clean and sub only to stuff you like!

Take a look, it’s in a book by ShawshankShawshank (voidifremoved.net)
So there’s this “discover” option in the WordPress app, and the tags I’m interested in are books etc. And I found a couple of book blogs that I looked at and found one with a pretty interesting post, Opposite Books Tag. I guess there’s a series of questions of opposites of the world of boo...
