WordPress in der Matrix by Matthias PfefferleMatthias Pfefferle (notiz.blog)

Why not both?

Remember this? (143) (IN FULL FLOW)
I just copied and pasted a piece of text from an online version of Office to a Wordpress post. While hitting Cmd+V on my keyboard I had a flashback to the earliest blogging days, when this was an absolute no go because of all the mark-up that would accompany the copied text and

Haha yeah. I remember this too. The only reason to keep Notepad around. It removed any formatting just fine 😀

I’m trying to limit meta posts to 1 in 3 at most. So after 2 days of other nonsense, here’s me fucking about on the IndieWeb with no idea what I’m doing. If it looks a bit long and a bit dry, trust me, it is. So feel free to skip to the end and just comment that it was interesting. No one will...

Heh, this sounds like a very typical dive into the Indieweb. Kudos for sticking to it. Your observations are correct. It’s tricky and hard to wrap the head around in the first place but it pays off. I also wish for a more user friendly introduction so I started doing presentations. This is [very slowly] boiling down to ideas for a userfriendly presentation.

What makes the Fediverse better than Twitter by Hypolite PetovanHypolite Petovan (blog.mrpetovan.com)
I read a Fediverse post simply stating that what makes Twitter bad is the people on Twitter. I do not believe in this oversimplification, even if I believe the Fediverse is a better place than Twitter. But it isn’t because of any people’s quality criterion, rather about general policy and empowering users and admins.

“Jill of the jungle was the first game i connected with. When i started playing castle of the winds, i started making "games" in ms paint. Half-life was the first game i started modding, Neverwinter Nights I published mods. And.. well.. ngl always wanted to look like lara croft”

Heh, that brings back memories of the modding community – e.g. TheWall 😀

Also I did use the Hammer Editor for a school assignment demonstrating “CAD” and especially light calculations for 3D engines. Nobody of the auditors knew it was “just” Half-Life at all (no-gui ftw) 🤪😂

Improving WordPress Video Accessibility by @edent@edent (shkspr.mobi)
In order to provide a video playback UI, WordPress uses the excellent MediaElement library. Recently, I discovered a slightly annoying flaw - I couldn't see the play button! Here's a screenshot of the video UI. A video with an impossible to see play button. In the middle of this screenshot is a whit...

I’m missing the subtitles for videos in WordPress. In earlier versions there was an option for this. So every time I’m adding subtitles manually, that I do on my occasional videos, I’ve to edit the HTML of the Gutenberg block. It’s easy with HTML5 but now the Gutenberg editor will render the block as invalid so any further change has to be done in the source too. Like adding additional video container formats so clients can make their own choice depending on supported encoding.
