Challenging turn-based RPG 'Stoneshard' has a huge overhaul update out, price rising by Liam DaweLiam Dawe (gamingonlinux.com)
Ink Stains Games have released a major upgrade to the challenging turn-based RPG Stoneshard, one they've been working on for some time now and it's quite the overhaul. Sounds like it's almost a different game too, all the big main parts of the game have been changed in some way. Here's the highlight...

Absolute lovely. Looks like someone made the homework on mediaeval buildings and stuff and mixed everything in a nice looking fantasy RPG. Getting Death or Glory: Das Erbe von Morgan vibes from this. Stoneshard goes totally on my wishlist.

How can I get consistent sizes with physically different monitors on Linux? by @edent (shkspr.mobi)
I can’t think of a concise way of wording this. I have three monitors. Each has the same resolution – 1920x1080px. But each one has a different physical size – 61 cm monitor, 39 cm laptop, and 48 cm monitor. Three monitors. Here’s my problem. When I move a window from one screen to another, ...

Sounds like you want to go back to tweaking an Xorg config file 🙂 A Monitor section has an option for a DisplaySize (in mm) that may be used (overriden by dpi from DDC file so may have to be disabled) but since the dimensions seem to be detected fine already I’d fiddle with xrand and if you’re happy with the results put that in ~/.xprofile or whatever. Here you can set anything without restrictions from the GUI. Example:

xrandr --output DisplayPort-0 --scale 0.8x0.8

Sadly this doesn’t seem to work with Wayland (I tried it even with XWayland for you). There was a project to rewrite xrandr but looks like it never flew. Latest solution to this seems to be wlr-randr that has according to source a --scale parameter but this requires wlr-output-management-unstable-v1 and while this may be in wlroots by now it’s not shipped (for me!) yet. Your mileage may vary.

I watched “The Social Dilemma” on Netflix today. I like the movie! A good movie with a lot of things people from within my bubble probably already know. And a lot of reasons to stay away from (classic) social media.

Watched The Social Dilemma now as well. Background music was annoying and distracting but overall a good one. Absolutely nails my own aversion against especially FB.

Kinda sad that there was zero talk about alternatives that do exist nowadays but I understand that the focus is on the big ads driven ones.

Just another manic Monday by ShawshankShawshank (voidifremoved.net)
Well, it’s Monday. I’m up, showered, and have a cup of coffee in front of me. I got the local CTV news station on. It’s a crisp 6c outside this morning. I have the ingredients for a snack for Neal on the counter, I’ll try to elbow my way into the kitchen to make that, while my mom is outside...

What if I told you that Germans struggle with grammar too? 😀

Added Webmention support to the blog by Wladimir PalantWladimir Palant (Almost Secure)
A discussion on Mastodon convinced me to take a look at the Webmention standard, and I even implemented a receiver for this blog.

Awesome, @WPalant@infosec.exchange is giving Webmentions a try and that’s totally not my fault 😁

Hope this works out for you too 👍 It’s intriguing how your focus is on the security side of things. Most people I know use it simply for easier interactions and backfeeding. Let me know if you’re interested in a tour/demo 😉

Well I’ve run through rainbows and castles of candy by ShawshankShawshank (voidifremoved.net)
Guten Tag. Ich bin Eddie. Ich hab Brot und Wasser. Willkommen! That’s for all my new friends from Germany that have been visiting my site and poking around. Well good morning. Happy Tuesday. It’s overcast here this morning, but it’s supposed to get sunny, and hotter in a few hours. I’m sitti...

Promises castles of candy, has bread and water 🤣

Do any Open Source Licences require source history? by @edent (shkspr.mobi)
A question to the void. Are you entitled to get the source history of open source projects? Lots of Open Source licences give the consumer of software the right to a copy of the source code. For example, GPLv3 says that distributors of software have to: give anyone who possesses the object code … ...

I’ve a foggy memory of Apple doing this. Code they used came back altered in a bulk that was hard to get into upstream again. A lot of discussion was going on about this practice but I don’t recall the outcome.
